“The Evolution of a Memory”

Commissioned by Laurie, this deeply personal piece transforms cherished objects from her childhood into a visual story of growth and transformation. Laura, an avid swimmer in her youth, entrusted me with her collection of medals and ribbons. I shaped her ribbons into the wings of a butterfly—symbolizing metamorphosis—and embedded her medals directly into the textured landscape, sculpted with molding paste to evoke rippling water. The gentle hand, radiant light, and symbolic “X” speak to the beauty of letting go, while honoring where you've been. This painting is about movement, memory, and the quiet hope that rises from change.
